We Can

The “We Can” campaign is an initiative aimed at spreading awareness about domestic violence, gender (in)equality, and healthy decision making throughout India done through rallies, conferences, workshops, and everyday conversations.

The goal of the campaign was to reduce social acceptance of violence against women across six countries of South Asia including India and objectives included, bringing about a fundamental shift in social attitudes and beliefs that support violence against women, a collective and visible stand by different sections of the community against violence against women, build a popular movement to end all violence against women and a range of local, national and regional alliances to address violence against women.

From 2006 – 2013, PCVC steered the project in Tamil Nadu that involved alliance building and networking with 192 alliances in 15 districts, mobilizing close to 3 lakh change makers, men and women, all over Tamil Nadu. Alliances included schools, colleges, law enforcement agencies, non-profit organizations, government bodies, and self-help groups, media including television radio and newspapers, local shops, and corporate entities
